About the Journal
Artificial Intelligence & Cognitive Studies: Interdisciplinary Perspectives (AICS) publishes open access, peer-reviewed research at the intersection of AI and cognitive science. Focus: interdisciplinary methods, theory, applications. Authors, readers, and librarians encouraged to register for updates. The journal supports open archiving (LOCKSS/CLOCKSS).
Exploring the Intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Human Thought
Artificial Intelligence & Cognitive Studies: Interdisciplinary Perspectives is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to probing the complex relationships between artificial intelligence and the diverse sciences of cognition. We strive to provide a space for discussion, experimentation, and rigorous scholarship in an era where both AI and cognitive sciences are rapidly redefining our understanding of reasoning, perception, and decision-making. We are aware of the evolving nature of these fields and we embrace honest inquiry as our guiding principle.
Our Mission
We aim to foster dialogue and collaboration across disciplines. By bringing together computer scientists, psychologists, neuroscientists, linguists, and others, we hope to inspire innovative approaches to the study of intelligence both machine and human. We know the most important questions rarely have easy answers. Our mission is to create a journal where both successes and open challenges are discussed openly and constructively.
Types of Papers Accepted
We welcome a broad range of scholarly contributions, including:
-
Empirical Papers: Original studies reporting on data-driven discoveries, including but not limited to behavioural data, human-computer interaction experiments, or AI system evaluation.
-
Experimental Papers: Rigorous investigations employing experimental paradigms, either with human or artificial agents, clearly describing methodology, protocols, and results.
-
Conceptual Papers (with Literature Review): Thorough analyses that clarify theoretical concepts, bridge existing gaps, and synthesize key findings from the literature.
-
Position Papers: Well-argued perspectives that propose new directions, pose open questions, or critically assess current trends in the intersection of AI and cognitive studies.

Our Approach
We encourage authors to discuss limitations. Submissions that document surprising outcomes, negative results, or lessons learned from challenging applications are especially valued. Our review process upholds transparency, methodological rigor, and constructive feedback.
Open Access and Transparency
All content in Artificial Intelligence & Cognitive Studies: Interdisciplinary Perspectives is fully open access. We promote reproducibility by encouraging sharing of data, code, and protocols. Every article, regardless of type, is evaluated on the quality of evidence, clarity of communication, and its potential to advance interdisciplinary dialogue.
